Operating Code for the Position of Twitter Manager

Eligibility to Serve

The Twitter Manager (TM) should be a member of an AKA member department who is well-versed with the Twitter social media platform.  It is preferred that the position be filled by a current or former member of the Board of Directors.

 

Term of Office and Accountability

The TM is appointed by the Executive Committee, serves for a period of 3 years, and may be reappointed indefinitely at the discretion of the Executive Committee. The TM sits ex officio on the Communications and Marketing Committee and reports to the President or President’s designee.

 

Responsibilities

The TM is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the AKA twitter handle (@AmKinesAssoc), including the overall appearance and quality of the site and the content disseminated through this social media platform on behalf of AKA. This includes:

 

Ensuring that the current username, password, phone number, and e-mail address associated with @AmKinesAssoc is confidential, updated periodically, and on file with the AKA office.

Monitoring the e-mail account associated with @AmKinesAssoc on a regular basis.

Disseminating information (tweeting/re-tweeting) on behalf of AKA, specifically the following:

-All items disseminated by AKA via e-mail to AKA member departments, according to the AKA social media calendar.

-Twitter friendly items posted to other AKA social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, etc.).

-Solicitations/advertisements by AKA sponsors or affiliates as approved by the Executive Director.

-Other items as directed by the President or President’s designee.

            Maintaining the public list of those handles followed by @AmKinesAssoc to include:

-Other reputable professional organizations related to kinesiology or one of its sub-disciplines.

-AKA member departments (proactive follow), including their laboratories (follow-back only).

-Current and former AKA Board members (follow-back only).

-AKA sponsors and affiliates.

-Other handles as directed by the President or President’s designee.

Monitor the tweets of those handles followed by AKA for inappropriate or controversial content, and take appropriate action as needed (e.g., unfollow, block, mute, etc.).

Monitor the public list of those handles following @AmKinesAssoc whose content is deemed inappropriate or controversial, and take appropriate action as needed (e.g., unfollow, block, mute, etc.).

Ensuring that @AmKinesAssoc only likes appropriate tweets that tag @AmKinesAssoc, use an AKA-related hashtag, mention/promote AKA or AKA in a positive light, or speak to issues directly aligning with the AKA mission.

 

Reporting Requirements

The TM will provide an annual summary of the @AmKinesAssoc account activity to the Communications and Marketing Committee for inclusion in their report to the Executive Committee.
